2009 Press Release

CopperEye supplies Deutsche Telekom Group operators with joint Secure Data Retrieval Server (SDRS) solution

Slovak Telekom & T-Mobile Slovensko deploy managed service to comply with EU Data Retention Directive

3 June 2009, London, UK - CopperEye, a leading provider of enterprise data management solutions, today announced that Deutsche Telekom owned operator Slovak Telekom and its daughter company T-Mobile Slovensko, have successfully implemented a joint IT project using the CopperEye and Sun Microsystems's Secure Data Retrieval Server (SDRS) solution to help comply with the European Data Retention Directive (EU DRD). Slovak Telekom and T-Mobile Slovensko deployed SDRS to enable the secure retention and automatic management of up to 12 months historic communications data across its fixed and mobile telephony and Internet services.

The SDRS solution enables Slovak Telekom and T-Mobile Slovensko to retain and query communications data quickly and cost-effectively in order to support Law Enforcement Agencies in Slovakia investigating criminal activities. A unique challenge of the implementation was that the companies required a single system that would retain Slovak Telekom's fixed-line telephony and Internet data and be used to provide a managed service to T-Mobile Slovensko for the retention of its mobile Internet data.

Slovak Telekom's Director of Security Subunit Mr. Frantisek Gaulieder commented: "We had a tight timescale for the implementation and a clear compliance mandate, which CopperEye perfectly delivered. By using the same system for both companies, we were able to simplify our working processes and dramatically reduce our operating costs."

Carmen Carey, CopperEye's CEO, said: "This is one of the first examples in our industry of a telecommunications operator using an integrated managed service to handle its data retention requirements. This is a great illustration of an operator successfully deploying an SDRS system internally and as part of a managed service model to achieve full EU DRD compliance."
